Fit2Grow Triathlon: even after corona we continue to work on the well-being of our employees
The H.Essers Fit2Grow Triathlon was held on 5 September at the Averbode site. The event was originally scheduled for the spring of 2021, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic restrictions. Fortunately, we were able to reschedule the event for September, which we celebrated by turning our sports day into a family day with 800 internal and external fans. Talent Marketing & Communication Specialist Amber Pellens was also present that day.
It was a sunny day on 5 September as we enjoyed nature, sports and old-fashioned fun! More than 150 H.Eroes were present at the starting line at 10 AM, ready for the triathlon. Hilde Essers fired the starting shot and the athletes dove into the water. “Our athletes competed individually and in teams of two or three in the quarter triathlon (850 m swimming, 20 km mountain biking and 7.5 km trail running) or in the Fit&Fun Formula (500 m swimming, 8 km mountain biking and 5 km trail running),” explains Amber. “Visitors could hike or cycle through the stunning area or stand on the sidelines and cheer on their colleagues. Meanwhile, the little ones had a blast at the Kids Village we set up.”
It was a fierce battle to the end, but that made reaching the finish line all the more satisfying. “An incredible result, which is exactly what we aim for with our Fit2Grow programme,” says Amber. “At H.Essers, we believe in the importance of feeling good, both physically and mentally. We are incredibly proud of our colleagues and look forward to the next season of helping everyone at H.Essers feel healthy and happy.” After the event, the athletes, fans and family members were invited to enjoy a tasty BBQ and some refreshing ice cream.
