H.Essers strengthens position in the Netherlands with acquisition of Gebroeders Hoefnagels Transport

H.Essers has acquired Dutch company Gebroeders Hoefnagels Transport. The transport company, with sites in Asten and Weert, specialises chiefly in the transportation of construction and infrastructure materials. The acquisition makes H.Essers the market leader in infrastructure logistics in the Benelux. It allows us to both gain another foothold in the Netherlands as well as put our strong expertise in utilities to use in this neighbouring country.

Due to the increasing use of prefabricated elements and modular construction processes, in which ready-made units are pre-assembled, the demand for appropriate logistical solutions for these elements is also increasing. “The acquisition of Gebroeders Hoefnagels Transport, which generates a 25 million euro turnover, allows us to expand our services and fleet and become a one-stop-shop provider with all types of vehicles available to transport every construction-related element,” says Gert Bervoets.

For the current managing directors, Jan and Aloys Hoefnagels, the acquisition is an ideal opportunity to ensure the future of their family business and their team. “And, just like H.Essers, we have always invested strongly in customer focus, innovation and flexibility. In other words, common ground with H.Essers, which, together, will be a great added value for all customers.” Jan and Aloys will remain active in the company, as well as the 222 employees.

Expansion of the fleet

The acquisition of Hoefnagels adds 155 trucks to our fleet, which means our business unit H.Essers Infrastructure will have a total of 389 trucks and 869 trailers. “We continue to focus on the flexibility and customer focus H.Essers is known for,” says Eric Epding, Business Unit Manager at H.Essers. “But at the same time we are investing in the complementarity within the Benelux area, so that we can also provide optimum solutions to customers across the border.”
