H.Essers expands its logistics footprint in Denmark with the opening of its ninth site

On 4 June, we launched our ninth site in Denmark. With this site we are further expanding our logistics footprint in Northern Europe, more specifically in our pharma and food additives segments. “The new site fits perfectly into our synchromodal strategy and prepares us for our further growth,” says Lars Stub, Operations Manager in Denmark.

With the strategic acquisition of the Danish company Neff A/S in 2014, we wanted to continue our development efforts in this region, especially in the pharma and food additives segments. And we were more than successful, because today we open our ninth Danish site. Lars Stub: “More precisely, we set foot in one of the logistics hotspots in Denmark, in Køge, in the Zealand region, about 40 kilometres southwest of the capital city of Copenhagen. An ideal location for the development of our synchromodal strategy, close to the railways, the port and the motorways, both in relation to the other Nordic countries and Germany, and the rest of Europe. Moreover, the pharma industry is also highly concentrated in this region.

The new warehouse covers 7,500 square metres and complies with the most stringent regulations for storing food. Given the strong growth since 2008, the extra space is particularly welcome. Today we have no fewer than nine warehouses and we serve 56 leading companies. In addition to warehousing, our main activity in Denmark, we also ship goods to all the Scandinavian countries, including Iceland and Greenland, and even all the way up to the Norwegian Longyarbyen, Svalbard, which is located at about 1,300 kilometres from the geographic North Pole, and one of the most Northerly populated areas in the world.”

More news from the North is on the way. “We still have a number of new large projects in the pipeline, says Lars. We will elaborate on this in our next newsletter.”
