H.Essers Air Cargo Logistics makes the move to Frankfurt Airport
Due to the takeover of activities from BIRD’S Spedition GmbH, H.Essers Air Cargo Logistics is now represented at BXL, LGG, AMS and FRA airports.
From 1 January 2012, H.Essers Air Cargo Logistics (ACL), the air freight division, will be represented at Frankfurt Airport and will benefit from its own office facilities. With this strategic takeover of the BIRD’S Spedition GmbH company activities, H.Essers is now directly linked into Europe’s largest hub for both passengers and cargo flights. Frankfurt Airport sees an annual cargo volume of 2.2 million tons annually, against Brucargo’s 0.36 million tons.
In view of both operations and commercial development BIRD’S Spedition GmbH management, with their 30 years of expertise, will be responsible for setting up and the growing of this new division. Activities, clients and trucks will all make the move to Frankfurt. ACL, H.Essers’ air cargo division, will take care of all import and export freight through Frankfurt for the whole of Europe.
This takeover fits well with ACL’s strategy for growth, which includes the ambition of having a presence at key airports. 2011 witnessed an impressive figure of 20% growth, with a further 25% forecast for 2012. Business unit manager Danny Verstrepen explains: “Given its presence and scale, ACL is increasingly able to position itself as a strategic partner for the airlines.”
With cooperation already existing between offices located at Amsterdam, Brussels and Liege airports, this takeover represents a considerable expansion to H.Essers Air Cargo Logistics’ sphere of activities. With this new location however, H.Essers puts the focus firmly on Frankfurt, Europe’s largest hub for air cargo, a key gateway to Western Europe.
ACL combines effective IT solutions with ecological responsibilities. Among other things this is achieved by state-of-the-art onboard IT technology, guaranteeing accurate tracking and tracing, whilst simultaneously monitoring fuel use, complemented by the ecologically efficient Euro 5 engines. These integrated systems result in lower CO² emissions, at the same time delivering an improved service to our clients.
